Centre Space & Richard Snell Presents…

Go Fund Me Page – Here

White Monkey is a series of short stories written by Richard Snell. Richard has suffered with mental health issues throughout his life. When Covid-19 forced us all in to lockdown earlier this year, Richard like many became distressed and realised a good way to cope with his distress was to put together his poems and stories in which he tackles his personal demons and how he has fought to come to terms with them.

He would like to have his stories told in visual form and by using video and animation, we would like to take his story and create a series of videos that help people understand what living with mental health is really like.

With your help we can make this happen. Your support will go a long way in helping us to create this series of short films, which will focus on showing how it can feel living with this illness throughout life. We hope to show them to people who aren’t suffering and those who are in hopes that everyone will walk away from this series with a better understanding of how depression can affect a person, for better and worse.

Centre Space presents in association with the F.C.A…

As this year has been unusual to say the least, we wanted to do something fun and creative with the community (in a safe environment of course) as the years comes to an end. We currently have a card competition for Foster parents and their children, something to give them an opportunity to create and to just have fun in this disorientating time. The amazing artwork we receive will be published through November on wards so be sure to look out for their incredible work.

Spode Without: An Exhibition of Dave Newey’s Life Work
To all of those that came to the exhibition Spode Without by Dave Newey, we can’t thank you enough for the huge support and Dave would be over the moon at the attendance and the feedback of his incredible artwork. We would like to give a special thanks to Dan Southward for helping us to put this exhibition together and working to provide us a fitting space for Dave on Spode, giving him the great send off he would have wanted.
Thanks everyone ❤

A new launch for a new chapter

Last week we had the opening night for our recent exhibition by the Sentinel’s Snapper Squad, it wasn’t just your average open night however, it was the first open night that doubled as an offical launch of Centre Space’s new location. It was a fantastic night and we can’t thanks those enough who helped to make it such a successful night, it has created a huge buzz and we hope to work with everyone to keep this growing and to keep developing at this pace with your amazing support. To keep up to date on our incredible open nights and exhibitions, keep an eye on our social media pages and this website.

A huge thank you to all of those that were involved in the launch of Market@48, the orangisers couldn’t have asked for a better opening. Regardless of the weather, all of the amazimng artists and the incredible amount of visitors still came down to make the day unforgettable. The next market will be held on 29th September and there will be updates on the entrainments and stalls closer to the event. Once again, thank you all.

We have some news regarding our beloved Centre Space – Due to accessibility issues that have been implemented, with no consultation with gallery staff, at the Spode museum visitors centre, we have made the decision to leave. It was a hard decision that we had to implement with speed to protect our future exhibiting artists, as they would have been the ones affected.
We have thankfully been supported by the Potbank Café/Potbank Hotel who have allowed us to use their premises. This will enable us to fulfill our commitment to everyone and will bring in a new audience that will see our amazing artist’s work on display.

We will keep you all up to date on progress as we will still be trading as
CENTRE SPACE ARTS at the Potbank within the next week.
Thank you all for your amazing support and we will be back to normal very soon.

Kind regards
Centre Space Team (Darren & Sarah)

We are pleased to announce we are currently working with the Pottery Throw Down Judge Keith Brymer-Jones on a special instillation in September 2019.
Centre Space artists Darren Washington and Sarah Peart are currently working with Keith Brymer-Jones, Dan Thompson and Marj Hogarth to develop an arts installation at the Spode Museum. We are creating a subversive piece of work that pays homage to the back bone of the Spode site, its employees.
Launching in September 2019 – Please take a look at the introduction video by Keith Brymer-Jones that we created to announce the project.
More details coming soon.

We are working closely with the Potbank Café on the Spode Works site to expand our online shop into the real world. We are fortunate enough that through teaming up we will be curating the walls of the Potbank Café with our online shop artist’s work. There will e information with each image hanging proudly on the walls regarding prices and how to purchase the work (click here for more).
